V8: Lowndes faces surgery after motorbike crash

Six-time Bathurst 1000 winner and three-time V8 Supercar champion Craig Lowndes will undergo surgery later this week for a broken collarbone, following a recreational motorcycle accident on the weekend.

Lowndes sustained the injuries when he fell whilst riding with family and friends on Sunday. He is expected to recover in time to begin testing his new Triple Eight Holden Commodore in February ahead of the new V8 Supercar season, however the injury has ruled him out of the upcoming Bathurst 12 Hour race, where he had been scheduled to race an Audi R8 LMS.

"Obviously I'm very disappointed to be missing the (Bathurst) 12 Hour but my focus is on being fully recovered and ready to go for the V8 Supercar season, which I am on course to do," he said.
