Herta joins Carlin for BRDC F4
MSA Formula racer Colton Herta will move into the revamped BRDC Formula 4 Championship this season, making the step up with Carlin.
Son of former IndyCar driver and current team owner Bryan, Herta finished the 2015 MSA Formula season third in the standings with four victories and a further eight podiums to his name. The 15-year-old contested that campaign with Carlin and will stay with the Surrey, UK-based outfit for 2016 as it makes its debut in the BRDC championship next year following the introduction of the new Tatuus-Cosworth MSV F-016 - which Herta has already tested.
"Last year was a great start to my European racing career," he said. "With Carlin, I was able to learn a lot and finish the season very strong. I look forward to carrying that momentum into the new season in BRDC F4."
Team boss Trevor Carlin added: "The progress Colton made on every level in 2015 was very impressive and by the end of the year he was one of the most consistent drivers in the field. He's a great asset to the team and we have no doubt he will be a frontrunner in 2016."
Herta signature completes Carlin's 2016 line-up in the series, with Lando Norris – who also partnered Herta at Carlin en route to the inaugural MSA Formula crown last season – and Ameya Vaidyanathan having previously been confirmed by the squad.
