F3.5: Dillmann tops final day of testing

Tom Dillmann ended 2015 on a high by setting the fastest time in both sessions on the final day of private Formula 3.5 V8 testing at Barcelona. The Frenchman, who shone for Alpine Signatech in the World Endurance Championship during two LMP2 outings at the end of the year, recorded his fastest time of 1m28.664s in the morning session, driving for AVF.

Former Carlin racer Dillmann was 0.885s quicker than Formula Renault 2.0 ace Kevin Jorg at Lotus.

Alfonso Celis Jr took third in a strong showing for Adrian Valles's AVF team after its season of unfulfilled potential in FR3.5 in 2015.

Running at champion team Fortec, double Formula Renault 2.0 champion Jack Aitken's morning time secured the fourth-quickest time of the day. Fortec's confirmed signing Louis Deletraz and Monday pacesetter Jake Hughes found performance in the afternoon to ascend to fifth and seventh. The FR2.0 Eurocup title contenders sandwiched FR2.0 NEC graduate Josef Zaruba in the lone Pons entry at the test.

After sampling Arden machinery on day one, European Formula 3 race winner Markus Pommer switched to newcomers RP Motorsport where he finished eighth.

Recent Koiranen GP3 signing Matevos Isaakyan recovered from difficulties on Monday to take to the track for Spirit of Race, while Ferrari Academy pilot Antonio Fuoco drove for Arden.
