Palmer and Wehrlein join RoC lineup
DTM champion Pascal Wehrlein and 2016 Lotus Formula 1 team signing Jolyon Palmer have been added to the lineup for next weekend's Race of Champions in London. The Olympic stadium event will be the second consecutive RoC appearance for both drivers, who will be paired under the 'Team Young Stars' banner for the Nations Cup element on the opening night.
Last year in Barbados, Wehrlein reached the final of the individual RoC contest, where he lost out to David Coulthard.
"I enjoyed it so much last year in Barbados and I nearly made it all the way," said Wehrlein, who became the DTM's youngest champion this year when still aged 20 and is in the running for a 2016 Manor-Mercedes F1 seat. "Now I'll try to win it this year after my fantastic season winning the DTM title."
Palmer (LEFT) spent the 2015 season as Lotus's reserve driver after claiming last year's GP2 title, and will replace Romain Grosjean in the race lineup in '16. He was eliminated early in last year's RoC but hopes to do better on home soil.
"It was such a great event last year but as a Brit, being in London makes it even more special for me," said Palmer.
