F3: Macau GP entry list revealed
Formula 3 European champion Felix Rosenqvist tops the Macau Grand Prix entry list as he bids for a second successive victory in the November F3 classic.
Rosenqvist, who won with Mucke Motorsport in 2014, will attempt to emulate Edoardo Mortara to become only the second two-time winner of the Macau GP since it switched to F3 rules in 1983. The Swede leads the lineup of Prema Powerteam, which for the third year is aligned with the Theodore Racing name established by Macau GP godfather Teddy Yip and revived by his son, Status GP team principal Teddy Yip Jr, in 2013.
The Theodore link-up has assisted with a Macau debut for Briton Jake Dennis, whose backer the Racing Steps Foundation is traditionally ambivalent about the race, with Ferrari protege and F3 rookie Lance Stroll completing the team's lineup.
Rosenqvist's main Euro F3 title rivals are also entered with their regular teams, with Antonio Giovinazzi remaining with Carlin and Macau debutant Charles Leclerc at Van Amersfoort Racing.
Other Euro F3 race winners on the entry include George Russell (making his first Macau start with Carlin) and Markus Pommer (Motopark).
New Zealander Nick Cassidy makes it two 2014 Macau podium finishers on the entry list. Cassidy jointly leads the Japanese F3 Championship with TOM'S teammate Kenta Yamashita and the duo will both be present on the Guia street circuit.
With the GP2/GP3 round in Bahrain clashing with Macau, there is only one F3 import on this year's entry list, with BMW-contracted Brit Alexander Sims linking up with Double R Racing for his sixth attempt at the race. Sims has qualified for Macau by dint of his one-off European F3 outing at the Algarve Circuit with Hitech GP.
Among the switcharounds from this year's regular entry list, Indian Arjun Maini moves from VAR to T-Sport, where he will be the sole representative and will use the Tomei-built ThreeBond engine. Meanwhile, Team West-Tec has recruited Scot Sam MacLeod and American Ryan Tveter, who have been with Motopark and Carlin, respectively, this season.
Finally, Fortec regular Peter Li lines up with Jo Zeller Racing after Felix Serralles, who had intended to contest the event, was ruled out by a recently arranged clashing Indy Lights official test.
