MOTOGP: Hernandez lands Aspar ride

Yonny Hernandez will switch to the Aspar team in MotoGP next season. The 27-year-old Colombian will leave the Pramac Ducati squad after more than two seasons there, having joined the team for the last five races of 2013.

Hernandez has been replaced at Pramac by British rider Scott Redding, who will partner Danilo Petrucci.

"I am very excited to be joining the Aspar Team," said Hernandez, whose best result in nearly four seasons in MotoGP is seventh at last year's Malaysian Grand Prix. "Several years ago we tried to work together but couldn't reach an agreement, now we can finally be together.

"I know the Aspar Team is a very professional team, I am convinced that next year we can reach a high level. This is a winning team that has demonstrated for a long time what they can do."

Aspar has run Nicky Hayden and Eugene Laverty on its Hondas in 2015, though has been linked with a switch to Ducati for next year.

"I think Yonny is a great rider, we have talked in the past," said team boss Jorge Martinez "Aspar." "He has so much potential and has shown to be fast many times. I am convinced that the Aspar Team, with our experience and professionalism, will help Yonny to keep evolving and produce great results.

"Yonny is an experienced pilot and with our method of working he will be able to gain a lot of consistency ahead of the races, an area he still has room for improvement."
