Formula E introduces yellow-flag speed limit
Formula E will introduce its version of a virtual safety car in season two, a speed-limited full-course yellow period.
A limit of 50km/h can be declared by the race director in lieu of a full safety car, with drivers required to remain in single file and not close on the car ahead. The pitlane will stay open during any full-course yellow, with the 50km/h limit also applying in the lane.
The all-electric series will also introduce a revised penalty system, with four options defined to be used based on the severity of the offence.
Time penalties of five or 10 seconds will be served on top of pit stops if incurred before the car swap, or to total race time if the pit stop has also been made, while a drive-through penalty and a 10-second stop-and-go penalty are also outlined.
Formula E has previously announced a change to its qualifying format for the 2015/'16 season, which starts in Beijing next month, the introduction of a superpole session.
