Mercedes releases 2016 DTM impression

Mercedes has released an early artist's impression of the bodywork it will carry in the 2016 DTM season. Based on the new generation of the brand's road-going AMG C 63 Coupe, it will replace the current Mercedes racer, which has won two races so far in 2015.

It remains to be seen whether it will be the only new bodywork on the grid next year, before the introduction of the new Class One framework in 2017.

BMW has confirmed it will stick with its current M4 design, while Audi says its immediate focus remains on the 2015 season.

"The new Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe will again set new standards for driving dynamics and design," Mercedes DTM boss Ulrich Fritz said. "So, the vehicle provides the ideal basis for our DTM car.

"I'm already looking forward to seeing the new Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM compete in 2016. Our aim with this vehicle is, of course, to continue the Mercedes-Benz success story in the DTM."
