The successor to the successful Z4 GT3 will be launched on September 15 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, where it will be shown in BMW Motorsport livery for the first time rather than the camouflage paintwork in which it has been testing.
BMW has announced that the price of the M6 GT3, which is powered by a twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8, has been set at €379,000 plus taxes, and that the order book will open on the launch of the car.
BMW has already been showing the car to potential customers and held a private viewing at last month’s Spa 24 Hours Blancpain Endurance Series round, an event won by the Z4 in the hands of the Marc VDS team.

Deliveries will begin in time for the start of the 2016 racing season.
BMW Motorsport boss Jens Marquardt explained that the marque was “completely on schedule with the development of our new figurehead on the GT racing scene”.
“We have split development into performance-related testing and endurance testing – we have done both types quite intensively,” he said.
“The basic work of the past few months is now followed by a period of fine-tuning and our approach is to provide our customers with a competitive car from the word go.”
BMW factory driver Andy Priaulx, who has been part of the development team, described the car as “a big step forward compared with the BMW Z4 GT3”.
“I was really impressed with the driveability of the BMW M6 GT3, and the reliability of the car already looks more than promising,” he said.
BMW has strived to make the new car cheaper to run than its predecessor and claims that running costs for the engine and gearbox have been reduced by 30 per cent over the Z4.
It is planning to develop a version of the M6 to the new GTE rule book from the base of the GT3 car, so that the marque can continue to compete in the GT Le Mans class of the Tudor United SportsCar Championship.
