Wilson Fastest in GTS Practice at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course

LEXINGTON, Ohio -- Kris Wilson, of Monument, Colo, was fastest in Friday's Pirelli World Challenge GTS practice session at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, part of the StopTech Mid-Ohio Grand Prix presented by MOMO. Twenty GTS drivers took to the track under warm, sunny weather conditions for the 25-minute session.

Andy Lee, of Colorado Springs, Colo. in the No. 20 BestIT Racing Chevrolet Camaro set the early fast pace with a 1:28.581 followed by Nick Esayian, San Diego, Calif., in the Special Operations Warrior Foundation/Justap/Aston Martin Vantage GT4 with a 1:29.231 and Tony Gaples, of Libertyville, Ill., in the No. 11 Blackdog Speed Shop Chevrolet Z28 1:29.538.

Mark Wilkins, of Toronto, Ont. in the No. 38 PutOnTheBrakes.Org Kinetic Motorsports / Kia Racing Kia Optima would then slot into second on the charts at the 14-minute mark with a 1:29.108 and a couple of laps later he'd posted a faster time with a 1:28.984.

Esayian then went to the top of the charts with a 1:28.360, followed by Jack Baldwin, of Marietta, Ga. in the No. 73 GTSport Racing/Umphrey’s McGee Porsche Cayman S with a 1:28.281.

Wilson, in the No. 07 Royal Purple/Orion Energy/LaSalle Solutions/PassTime USA TRG-AMR Aston Martin Vantage GT4 then topped the charts at the 24-minute mark with a 1:28.281. Of note, Wilson's mark bettered the previous GTS race lap record set last year by Lawson Aschenbach (1:28.435).

GTS competitors now get ready for Round 11 qualifying scheduled for today at 1:45 p.m. Eastern today (follow live timing and scoring at
