F3: Stroll excluded after appeal hearing

Lance Stroll has been excluded from the result of the third Formula 3 European Championship race at Monza following an appeal hearing.

Prema Powerteam driver Stroll was involved in a spectacular crash in race two at the Italian venue, rolling his car after making contact with Antonio Giovinazzi entering the Curva Grande (pictured, TOP). Stewards ordered Stroll to start the weekend's final race from the pitlane as a penalty, but he was able to take up his grid position of 11th after the decision was appealed and he finished the race in ninth.

After the event, Prema served notice of its intent to withdraw the appeal.

The International Court of Appeal ruled that Stroll should be excluded from the results, which only equates to the loss of one point since half points were handed out as the race was abandoned early due to concerns over driving standards.

Stroll, who sits eighth in the standings, went on to be banned from the third race at Spa two weeks later for causing the accident that eliminated himself, Mikkel Jensen and Felix Rosenqvist as they fought over the race two lead.
