IMSA: CORE autosport eager to break unexpected streak
South Carolina's CORE autosport has been the dominant force in IMSA's PC class since it joined the American Le Mans Series in 2011. Four consecutive championships have followed, and the combination of team owner/driver Jon Bennett and Colin Braun currently has CORE atop the PC standings and working towards an unprecedented streak of five straight PC titles.
They also have another streak going, and it's one they wouldn't mind ending this weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park: 374 days since their last win.

"What's important in racing is you can't spend a lot of time looking in the rearview mirror because that's not how you prepare for what's ahead of you, and whether it's been a year since our last win or a week since out last win, we still show up and look to win each time we race," CORE COO Morgan Brady told RACER. "Of course, we'd like to bring that number of days since our last win down to zero this weekend, but if we don't, it won't change our approach in any way."
The fact that CORE leads the PC standings despite going more than a year since its last trip to Victory Lane is a testament to the quality of their personnel and practices.
"It hits on our philosophy as a team," Brady added. "Sure, we all want to win, we prepare to win, and believe we can win, but it's not necessarily where our day to day focus is. It's on executing to the best of our ability in any given situation. So despite not winning, we're still leading the championship.
"We've taken tough situations at Daytona where we still finished second after things went wrong, or having contact before the start at Detroit and fixing the car to get back out and score points, and made sure we still produced. As we've learned, it's not about how many wins you have; it's the points you earn that will take you to a championship."
