Rum Bum Racing Porsche Leads Way In Opening Watkins Glen Practice


Subtitle:Trinkler Tops ST In Honda Civic Si

Matt Plumb led Thursday’s opening Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge practice at Watkins Glen International, running 2:01.753 in the No. 13 Billfish Foundation/Rum Bum Studios Porsche 911.

Variety was the watchword in the Grand Sport (GS) class in preparation for Saturday’s Continental Tire 150, with four makes representing five teams in the top five positions. 

Sasha Anis was second in the No. 8 Gulf/Spyder/MBRP Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R co-driven by Anthony Mantella with a lap of 2:01.877. Scott Maxwell was third in the debut of the No. 15 Ford Performance Multimatic Ford Shelby GT350R-C co-driven by Billy Johnson with a lap of 2:02.008. Defending Watkins Glen winner Robin Liddell was fourth with a lap of 2:02.194 in the No. 6 Stevenson Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R. He and co-driver Andrew Davis are riding a two-race winning streak and lead the GS standings.Fifth was BJ Zacharias in the No. 14 Nissan Nismo GT Academy Nissan 370Z co-driven by Brad Jaeger. The pair finished second in the 2014 Continental Tire 150 in a side-by-side finish.In Street Tuner (ST), three different makes led the practice chart.Owen Trinkler was fastest in the class with a lap of 2:08.705 in the No. 44 Cruise America/Thor Motorcoach Honda Civic Si co-driven by Sarah Cattaneo. He was followed by three-time 2014 TOTAL Pole Award pole winner Justin Piscitell, running 2:08.769 in the No. 34 Alara Racing Mazda MX-5 co-driven by Christian Szymczak. Third was Corey Lewis, who ran 2:08.952 in the No. 36 Strategic Wealth Designers Porsche Cayman co-driven by Matt Dicken.Rounding out the top five were brothers Juan Carlo and Jorge Leroux in the No. 4 Honda Civic Si.
