PWC: Qualifying canceled, grid set by points
The GT/GTA poles for Saturday's Round 10 race at Detroit's Belle Isle and the Cadillac V-Series Challenge presented by the Metro Detroit Cadillac dealers will be set by driver championship points coming out of Round 9 from Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
The 30-minute session was split into two 12-minute sessions with competitors qualifying in two groups – the first group of 12 cars consisted of entirely GTA competitors, the second group consisted of 14 GT competitors.
The second session was red flagged almost immediately after it started when Renger van der Zande, in the No. 31 EFFORT Racing/World PMO Porsche 911 GT3R, contacted the wall through turn 2. Van der Zande was not injured, but the car sustained heavy damage. The balance of the 12-minute session remained under red flag for the clean-up.
Per the Pirelli World Challenge Rule Book 1.4.2.6, the grid was set for Round 10 by Drivers' Championship points.
Round 10 of the GT and GTA Championships is scheduled for 9:50 a.m. Eastern. Follow live timing and scoring at
