Wilkins Fastest in GTS Practice at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
BOWMANVILLE, Ontario - Local racing star Mark Wilkins, of Toronto, ON was fastest in the first GTS class official practice session today at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Max Riddle, of Vancouver, B.C., and Kurt Rezzetano, of Chester Springs, Pa. rounded out the top three in the session at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP). The GTS competitors will compete in Rounds 6 and 7 in the Remo Ferri Group Canadian Grand Prix presented by Replay XD, part of the Victoria Day SpeedFest weekend.
Wilkins in the No. 38 Kinetic Motorsports PutOnTheBrakes.Org Kia Racing Optima was able to post a 1:24.586 after 28 minutes of the 45 minute session had elapsed. His time took down the time posted by Riddle in the No. 07 TRG-AMR Royal Purple/Orion/La Salle Solutions/PassTime USA Aston Martin Vantage GT4 of 1:24.626. Riddle’s time eclipsed the fast lap that was set early in the session by Rezzetano in the No. 37 Phoenix American Motorsports Calvert Dynamics/Phoenix Performance Ford Mustang Boss 302 (1:24.644).
The 45-minute practice session was held under beautiful, sunny, spring Canadian weather in the low 60's. The temperatures and track conditions allowed the top 10 to all post a fast lap time in the 1:24.000 range and all 10 were within less than half a second from first to 10th.
GTS competitors return to the track Friday at 11:35 a.m. EDT to qualify for the Round 7 race. Round 7 is scheduled for Saturday at 10:20 a.m. EDT.
