F1: Alonso travels to Malaysia for tests
Fernando Alonso is travelling to Malaysia for the second race of the Formula 1 season following a series of medical tests at Cambridge University on Sunday.
The McLaren driver suffered concussion after a crash in testing in Barcelona last month that led to him sitting out the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. Having resumed fitness training earlier this month, Alonso flew to McLaren's factory in Woking, Englands last week to spend some time in the team's simulator. On Sunday, he was assessed by three physicians at Cambridge University, who will in turn pass their report onto the FIA.
Alonso set off to Malaysia on Monday where he will be assessed by the FIA medical delegate and have an "impact" test on Thursday before being assessed by the track's medical officer. A decision will then be made as to whether the double world champion is fit to take part in the race weekend.
