2015 WRX STI wins debut rally at Sno*Drift

The debut event for the 2015 Subaru WRX STI at the Sno*Drift rally in Atlanta, Mich., was a flawless event for SRT USA. The new car exceeded all expectations, taking David Higgins and Craig Drew to a sweeping victory.

As always, Sno*Drift drew large crowds of spectators despite the harsh winter conditions. The enthusiastic and hardy fans of Michigan embody the passion of rally and the cold was no match for the countless bonfires that lined the stage roads to keep them warm as the eagerly awaited the racing action.

Day 2 of the event consisted of over 70 stage miles with some stages being repeated, becoming even slicker as the day went on. Despite the loss of grip, it was preferable as the road surfaces became more consistent. This only complemented the precision and timeliness of the event operations, which were on target throughout the event.

In the world of rally, it's almost unheard of for the debut event of a brand-new car to be completed without a single glitch. This success of the new Subaru WRX STI is an indicator of how far it has advanced as a world class rally weapon.

"It's really impressive to run a full race with a brand-new car and not have any problems or setup changes whatsoever. It's a testament to Vermont SportsCar's attention to detail and preparation" explained Higgins. "The engineering and improvements that have gone into the new chassis are as evident on a rally stage as they are on the street. I think it's a brilliant car and I can't wait for the rest of the season!"
