Newcomers head Valencia F3 test

ADAC Formel Masters champion Mikkel Jensen headed the times on the final day of the week-long Formula 3 testing at Valencia. The Mucke Motorsport-run Dane's time from the first session remained the fastest of the day.

Jensen topped two sessions while his season-long FMasters rival, Maximilian Gunther, headed another. The other driver to set a fastest time was German F3 champion Markus Pommer with Motopark. But it was Formula Renault ALPS runner-up Charles Leclerc, who switched to Van Amersfoort Racing for the final day of the test, who set the second-fastest time overall.

Lotus F1 juniors Alexander Albon and Dorian Boccolacci, who have both completed all five days of the test with Signature, rounded out the top six.

Formula Masters China champion James Munro got his first outing in a current-spec F3 car when he tested with VAR, the New Zealander having run earlier in the week in a Motopark German F3 car. Carlin and Fortec Motorsport finished their test after Thursday's running.

EUROFORMULA OPEN TWEAKS

Leading Euroformula Open squad Team West-Tec ran a new paddle-shift gearbox developed for the series, completing 81 laps on one day and 97 on another.

Open teams also tested tires from Hankook and Michelin as the series evaluates a switch from Dunlop for 2015.

West-Tec ran six drivers over the week, with four of them – Japanese Yu Kanamaru, German Fabian Schiller, Austrian Christopher Hoher and British F3 runner-up Matt Rao – in contention for the team's FIA F3 European Championship squad.
