ISR leaves FR3.5 for GT program

ISR is to withdraw from Formula Renault 3.5 to focus on GT racing in the Blancpain championships in 2015.

Igor Salaquarda's team won FR3.5 races with Esteban Guerrieri, Daniel Ricciardo and Sam Bird during its five years in the category, but only fielded a single entry for Jazeman Jaafar this season. It also had an exploratory GT programme when it entered an Audi R8 LMS ultra in the Spa 24 Hours.

Salaquarda said ISR would now move fully into sports cars, starting with next month's Gulf 12 Hours in Abu Dhabi.

"Looking to challenging future goals has always been in the DNA of our team and at the end of this year's campaign we decided to focus exclusively on a very high level project in GT racing, which means stopping our participation in the World Series by Renault," said Salaquarda. "Endurance races have always excited me and the decision was taken with the great enthusiasm."

The team intends to run two Audis in both the Blancpain Sprint and Endurance Series next year. Filip Salaquarda, Aditya Patel Jiri Pisarik will drive a solo R8 in Abu Dhabi.
