F1: Caterham expects to make Abu Dhabi GP
The Caterham Formula 1 team administrator is "90 percent confident" the squad will compete at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix even if its crowdfunding bid fails.
Finbarr O'Connell told the Reuters news agency the team was packing up for the F1 finale, despite the crowdfunding scheme it launched in a bid to race there being just above the 62 percent mark with only 11 hours to go.
Caterham has missed the last two races in the United States and Brazil after going into bankruptcy administration.
"I am 90 percent confident that we are going," O'Connell said. "If some of those things happen, we expect to be announcing we are going.
"If we are still a few hundred thousand pounds short, we will recalibrate up to race day to raise the rest."
O'Connell added there were still parties interested in purchasing the team.
"In the last few days three interested buyers have come forward," he said. "They are people with F1 connections who are seriously interested and who if any of them bought it (the team), the world would say 'that makes sense'."
It is unclear which drivers Caterham would use if it travels to Abu Dhabi, with Marcus Ericsson announcing earlier this week he had severed all ties with the team.
