Campos signs Chinese WTCC racers

Campos Racing will field Hong Kong driver Michael John Soong at this weekend's round of the World Touring Car Championship at the Goldenport circuit in Beijing.

The 34-year-old will drive the team's second SEAT Leon TC2T car alongside Campos regular John Filippi.

John Soong, whose Chinese name is Jancheng Song, is a factory driver for the Dongfeng Yueda Kia team in the Chinese Touring Car Championship, and was Hong Kong Touring Car champion in 2008 and '09.

Fellow Hong Kong driver William Lok will replace John Soong at Campos for next weekend's Shanghai WTCC round.

Lok is a race winner in the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup China and an official driver for Lamborghini Shanghai in the Super Trofeo Asia.

The 40-year-old began racing in 2010 in the Hong Kong Touring Car Challenge and Asian GT Series.

John Soong had a difficult start to his weekend at Goldenport, being one of several drivers to be caught out by damp conditions in Saturday morning's test.

The half-hour session was red-flagged when his SEAT became beached in gravel at Turn 13.
