Absolute Racing to field Bentley GT3 in Asia
Bentley Motorsport has forged a partnership with Absolute Racing for the GT Asia series. The Bentley Continental GT3 will make its Chinese race debut in the Shanghai round of GT Asia next month, following a display appearance at the Shanghai Supercar event on Sept. 28.
"After wins on two continents this year already, developing our GT3 program further was the natural next step," said Bentley's Chairman and Chief Executive Wolfgang Durheimer. We have been impressed with Absolute Racing's operation in China, and I'm very pleased to have them join our expanding motorsport family. I wish them the very best of luck with our new Continental GT3 and look forward to seeing a Bentley racing and hopefully winning in China, one of our most important markets."
Ingo Matter, Director of Absolute Racing, added:
"We are delighted to be taking the Continental GT3 racing in Greater China. Bentley has already shown that their car is a race winner in Europe and in America, and we'll be doing everything we can to score the same success in China. We've received our car and we're already preparing for our first race in Shanghai, where we hope to be able to compete with the fastest competitors straight away."
Following the Asia GT competition at Shanghai, Absolute Racing will race its Continental GT3 at the Macau GT race Nov. 13-16. Driving at both events will be GT veteran Jean Karl Vernay, who won the GTE AM class at the 2013 24 Hours of Le Mans and finished third in the 2013 GTE AM World Endurance Championship.
