Formula E: Senna surges to the top in second practice
Mahindra Racing's Bruno Senna grabbed P1 in second practice for the first ever FIA Formula E race, in Beijing, China, and to be broadcast here in the U.S. at 4 a.m. ET tomorrow morning on FOXSports1.
The Brazilian nephew of Formula 1 icon Ayrton Senna eclipsed FP1 top dog Lucas di Grassi by more than three tenths, and eclipsed his compatriot's earlier time by six-tenths. Behind di Grassi's Audi Sport ABT car, Dutch-Chinese racer Ho-Pin Tung was third for China Racing, narrowly edging Franck Montagny in the top Andretti Autosport machine.
Daniel Abt was fifth in the second Audi Sport ABT car, over a quarter-second ahead of 2004 Monaco GP winner Jarno Trulli, driving for his eponymous team.
Former F1 driver for Toro Rosso, Sebastien Buemi, did not complete a meaningful lap and ended up bottom of the time sheets.
Qualifying commences at midnight E.T. with race coverage starting at 3.30 a.m., with four-time IndyCar champ Dario Franchitti commentating.
