World Rallycross: Doran steps aside amid investigation

British World Rallycross driver Liam Doran has been forced to stand aside at Loheac due to an ongoing investigation into an incident at the World RX of Great Britain.

A statement released by the Monster Energy team said Doran will act as team manager for the French event as investigations are being made about his actions during the second round of the championship. Former World Rally Championship star Henning Solberg, who made a guest appearance for the squad in Canada last month, will stand in for Doran this weekend.

At the Lydden Hill event in May, Doran advanced onto the circuit to attend to his father Pat, who had been taking part in a Group B demonstration race when his Ford RS200 stopped on the start line in a blaze of flames.

Doran's actions during the incident are currently being investigated. Until that has been concluded, he will be unable to compete.

"I am clearly disappointed to be unable to race this round of the FIA world championship," said Doran. "Loheac is a phenomenal track and I'm excited to work with Davy Jeanney and Henning and support them both this weekend. My role is going to be to direct all my energy towards those guys succeeding."

The squad has revealed no further information about the incident and Doran has refused to comment on the subject. He has also been excluded from the results of round three of the championship at Hell in Norway for being in breach of fuel regulations.
