Palou among five getting IndyCar grid penalties for Milwaukee

Alex Palou's prospects of clinching the IndyCar drivers championship this weekend got a slight handicap with the news that the Spaniard's No. 10 Chip Ganassi Racing Honda will receive a nine-place grid penalty for Saturday's Snap-On 250 at Milwaukee. But he isn't alone: Team Penske's David Malukas and Scott McLaughlin will also be starting Saturday's race nine places back from where they qualify in the Nos. 12 and 3 Team Penske Chevy entries, as will the No. 76 and 77 Juncos Hollinger Racing Chevy cars of Rinus VeeKay and Sting Ray Robb. All were dinged for unapproved engine changes following last Sunday's Freedom 250 Grand Pricx Washington, D.C., Sunday, Aug. 23.

The entries were in violation of:

Rule 16.1.2.3.2. A fifth (5th) Engine is eligible to earn Engine Manufacturer points and will be considered an Approved Engine Change-Out if a Full Season Entrant has completed the Full Season Entrant Engine Mileage with its first four (4) Engines. Otherwise, a fifth (5th) or more Engine does not earn Engine Manufacturer points and will be considered an Unapproved Engine Change-Out.
