Matt McMurry tackles Lamborghini Super Trofeo
Dyson Racing junior development driver Matt McMurry will drive in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo this weekend at Virginia International Raceway. series for Mitchum Motorsports. McMurry will join team driver Lee Carpentier in the #80 Palm Beach/Pirtek Lamborghini, currently forth in the Amateur Drivers Championship after just four races.
"I was really excited when this opportunity came up because I've wanted to do some GT driving and to hone my skills for the various classes in sports car racing, said McMurry, who in June became the youngest driver ever to compete at the 24 Hours of Le Mans at age 16. "This will be my first GT race of any kind and it will be in a Lamborghini, which is an unbelievable way to get started."
McMurry is also a regular entrant in the IMSA Prototype Lites and European Le Mans Series in the LMP2 class.
"We have encouraged Matt to pursue all competitive opportunities that come his way and his performances this year have been attracting a lot of attention," said Chris Dyson. "This is is a terrific expansion of his driver development and we will be watching his progress at VIR with interest. "
