Can-Am, SCCA racer Dave Causey passes
The Indianapolis Star reports that Dave Causey, of Carmel, Ind., died Aug. 16, at the age of 84. After starting racing on a dirt track on the family farm, Causey became a member of the Indianapolis region of the SCCA in 1956, winning his first major race four years later at the Road America 500. He went on to compete in the Can-Am series, finishing fourth in points in 1970 driving a Lola T163 – a significant achievement as an independent competing in what was then America's top sports car series.
