Indy Lights: Veach recharges title bid with Milwaukee pole

Zach Veach gave his championship hopes a boost by securing pole position for this weekend's Indy Lights race at Milwaukee.

The Andretti driver came into the weekend sitting third in the standings, 24 points adrift of Gabby Chaves. He set about salvaging his title bid by being the only driver to break the 142mph mark in qualifying; setting a two-lap average speed of 142.028mph.

Chaves will start alongside him on the front row after going second-fastest with a two-lap average of 141.589mph.

The prospect of a Veach/Chaves front row was an unwelcome one for Jack Harvey, who jumped to second in the points after a dominant weekend at Mid-Ohio, but could manage no better than fifth fastest on Saturday.

Starting just ahead of him will be Matthew Brabham and Luiz Razia, who were split by just 0.001mph over two laps on their way to third and fourth fastest, respectively.
