New American Le Mans Series champion Jan Magnussen will race for the British Ram Racing Ferrari squad in next month’s Dubai 24 Hours.

The Chevrolet factory driver, who took his second ALMS class title this year together with Antonio Garcia, will share a GT3-spec Ferrari 458 Italia in the Dubai Autodrome enduro on January 10-11 with Ram’s European Le Mans Series-winning line-up of Johnny Mowlem and Matt Griffin.

The fourth driver will be local businessman and Ferrari enthusiast Cheerag Arya, who raced for the team in the event at the start of this year.

Team principal Dan Shufflebottom said: “Before Jan re-signed with Corvette Racing and the various calendars were confirmed, I’d spoken to him about being with the team for 2014.

“Although a full season with us wasn’t possible, it’s great he agreed to still do Dubai. Jan, combined with Johnny and Matt, makes for an extremely good line-up and I’d say we are definitely looking for good result compared with last year, which was our first competition event.”

Magnussen, who will remain with Chevrolet for the new United SportsCar Championship in 2014, said: “I’m looking forward to doing Dubai, which is getting bigger and bigger as an event.

“We should have a good shot at success: I’ve got to know the Ferrari GT3 pretty well from the GT Open [in which he contested four events in 2013] and I’ve got great faith in Ram Racing.”

The ninth running of the Dubai 24 Hours has attracted an entry of 29 cars in the top, GT3 class.

Leading entries include 2013 winner Black Falcon with a pair of Mercedes-Benz SLS AMGs and former FIA GT1 World Championship-winning team Motorsport, also with a Mercedes.

Previous winners include Bernd Schneider, the late Sean Edwards, Augusto Farfus, Craig Baird, Dieter Quester and Hans Stuck.
