Chaz Mostert will replace Will Davison in the Ford Performance Racing V8 Supercars lineup next year.

Longtime FPR protege Mostert stepped up from the Development Series to replace Jonny Reid at the struggling Dick Johnson Racing team after three events this season and took a stunning win at Queensland Raceway.

Team boss Tim Edwards said he was thrilled to be able to promote Mostert.

“He is the most exciting talent to join the series in recent times and is a product of our development program, so it is personally very satisfying to see him graduate after such an impressive debut season,” he said.

FPR’s plans have been the subject of much speculation since Ford announced it was stopping manufacturing in Australia.

Davison said it was his own choice to leave the team and he already had a new deal in place. He is believed to be heading to Erebus on a multi-year deal to replace Tim Slade.

“While I cannot yet share details of my plans for 2014 and beyond, please be assured that I will continue to be involved with V8 Supercar racing at the highest level and am very excited about what the future holds,” he said.

“I am obliged to not talk about the new program at this stage but I am sure everyone will understand my decision once the details emerge.”

Davison’s teammate Mark Winterbottom has extended his FPR deal and will stay on alongside Mostert.
