Cadillac confirms 2027 IMSA GTP drivers

Cadillac Racing has announced its drivers for the 2027 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season, on the same day that the manufacturer announced next year's FIA World Endurance Championship driving line-ups.

At Cadillac Whelen (Action Express Racing), reigning GTP champion Jack Aitken will defend his championship in the No. 31 Cadillac V-Series.R, one of two drivers running full-time in both IMSA and WEC, with no clashing race weekends between IMSA’s nine GTP events and the upcoming WEC season.

However, co-drivers Earl Bamber and Frederik Vesti have swapped roles: Danish driver Vesti will now run full-time in the No. 31 Whelen Cadillac alongside Aitken, while Bamber will run select Michelin Endurance Cup races including the Rolex 24 At Daytona.

"I’m thrilled to return to IMSA with Whelen Cadillac to defend our titles," said Aitken. "We’ve built something pretty special over the last few years here and we know the competition will be just as fierce as ever, so I’m already looking forward to Daytona and a chance to pick up where we left off. Continuity on the driver line-up with Fred and Earl is great as we’ve got a fantastic chemistry between us, and seeing Fred step up to more racing this year will be fun as well.”

"Looking into 2027, I'm very motivated and very excited to be back with Action Express, but in a full-time capacity doing all nine rounds of IMSA," said Vesti, who debuted with Action Express Racing as its Michelin Endurance Cup driver in 2025. "That's always been part of the plan with the Whelen Cadillac team, a few learning years and then finally stepping up to fight for the championship, which I can't wait.

"We are keeping consistency in the team, which means a lot to me. I think we are by far the strongest driver line up on the grid and I'm looking forward to continuing that journey. So yeah, thank you to (General Manager) Gary Nelson, the whole Action Express team, and of course, GM and Whelen Cadillac for the extension and very excited for the future."

Bamber said, "I think what we've built over the last two seasons is something super special, and it just really thrills the team to get another IMSA championship, and also Jack his first IMSA championship. And now it's all eyes forward to the big one for us, which is Daytona, where we're trying to get Cadillac and Whelen their first win in the GTP era at Daytona.”

Cadillac Whelen will also run a fourth driver in the Rolex 24 At Daytona, to be named at a later date.

Meanwhile, Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing continues with its two-car program, and no change to its four full-time drivers.

Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque will return to drive the No. 10 WTR Cadillac, with Taylor also stepping into a dual-role as both an IMSA and WEC driver. Likewise, Jordan Taylor and Louis Delétraz will continue to drive the No. 40 Cadillac. The team finally earned its first victory with the V-Series.R at Road America.

Englishman Will Stevens returns as the Michelin Endurance Cup driver of the No. 10 car, while his Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA teammate Norman Nato of France will replace Colton Herta as the endurance driver of the No. 40 car.

"Continuity is key and I’m excited to be returning in 2027 with the same driver line-up," said WTR owner and namesake Wayne Taylor. "Delighted to welcome Norman Nato back in the No. 40 cockpit and will lean on the knowledge that he will bring to us from WEC. Given our win and double podium at Road America and additional podiums at Detroit and Petit, I feel confident that we have the right mix of drivers and am excited to go testing."

Cadillac's three teams combined for three victories, 11 podiums, and four pole positions last season in IMSA, picking up the GTP manufacturers’ championship in the process.

“We are proud to carry the momentum of our championship-winning 2026 season into 2027 with a driver line-up that combines proven IMSA experience, championship-caliber performance and the depth required to compete across the full GTP schedule," said Eric Warren, Vice President, Global Motorsports Competition for General Motors.

"Our three Cadillac V-Series.R programs have demonstrated remarkable consistency and pace, and this roster gives each team a strong platform for the 2027 season. The goal is clear: defend our titles, continue building on Cadillac's endurance racing legacy and pursue success at every round, beginning with the Rolex 24 At Daytona.”
