IndyCar 2028 tests continue at Sebring with Palou and Rossi
The IndyCar Series and Dallara are in Florida this week as the next test of their 2028 chassis continues on Sebring International Raceway’s short course.
The popular testing site has been used by IndyCar teams for more than four decades and makes use of the outer loop that bypasses the roughest, bumpiest sections of the road course. The test represents the first run outside of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Dallara IR28, but features a continuation with the same drivers in five-time champion Alex Palou and 2016 Indy 500 winner Alexander Rossi at the test drivers.
Palou will handle Monday’s testing duties after his Indy 8 Hour SRO Mercedes-AMG GT3 team lasted just four laps during Saturday’s contest. Rossi will step into the IR28 and take care of Tuesday’s running.
Firestone has also joined in on the test to develop street course tires for 2027 and will have Andretti Global’s Kyle Kirkwood and Team Penske’s Scott McLaughlin working with the series’ official tire supplier and share the track with the IR28 on Monday and possibly on Tuesday if Andretti and Penske are unable to complete the vast to-do list in a single day.
