Makowiecki, da Costa dropped from Alpine's WEC line-up ahead of Fuji

The Alpine Endurance Team has revised its driver line-up for this weekend's FIA WEC 6 Hours of Fuji, the sixth round of the 2026 season.

A year on from the French marque's famous triumph at the Japanese circuit in the 100th WEC race, and with just three races left before it withdraws from Hypercar, António Félix da Costa and Frédéric Makowiecki have been stood down from driving duties.

Ferdinand Habsburg and Charles Milesi will share the No. 35 entry, while Jules Gounon and Victor Martins will pilot the No. 36 Alpine. This is the first time that the A424 program has opted for a two-driver approach, having utilized three drivers for each car in every race since debuting at the beginning of 2024.

No reason for the change has been communicated by Alpine. It is not yet clear if Felix da Costa and Makowiecki will return to the team before the end of the campaign. It appears to have been a late decision, as social media posts from the team about the event in the past two days specifically reference all six drivers.

Elsewhere in Hypercar, the Aston Martin THOR Team Valkyries and the No. 12 Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA V-Series.R are also scheduled to run with two drivers at Fuji. The No. 12 will revert to a three-driver crew for the final two races at Barcelona and Monza, as the team welcomes back Alex Lynn for the first time this season after recovering from a neck injury.

Alpine currently sits fifth in the Hypercar Manufacturers’ World Championship, having scored its first podium finish of the season at Lone Star Le Mans earlier this month. This result has also left da Costa, Habsburg and Milesi only 31 points off the Drivers’ World Championship lead.

The 6 Hours of Fuji will take place on the 25th to 27th September 2026.
