Collet, Lundgaard get IndyCar grid penalties at Laguna Seca

The final round of the IndyCar season will feature at least two cars with grid penalties for unapproved engine changes. First to be so ticketed for this weekend's Mission Foods Grand Prix of Monterey at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca are the No. 4 AJ Foyt Racing Chevrolet driven by Caio Collet and No. 7 Arrow McLaren Chevy of Christian Lundgaard, for engine change-outs following the two races at the Milwaukee Mile last Sunday.

Both entries were in violation of Rule 16.1.2.3.2: "A fifth Engine is eligible to earn Engine Manufacturer points and will be considered an Approved Engine Change-Out if a Full Season Entrant has completed the Full Season Entrant Engine Mileage with its first four Engines. Otherwise, a fifth or more Engine does not earn Engine Manufacturer points and will be considered an Unapproved Engine Change-Out."

The rule specifies a six-place grid drop for road and street course races, so both drivers will start six places back from where they qualify on Saturday afternoon at Laguna Seca.
