Chip Ganassi bids farewell to Dixon with honorary timepiece
After 25 years and six championships together, Chip Ganassi Racing and Scott Dixon embarked on the final race weekend of their partnership Friday at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Ganassi marked the occasion by gifting Dixon a Rolex timepiece in a special ceremony attended by members of the team.
“We have a driver that’s not gonna be with us any longer that’s been with us for 25 years,” said Ganassi as he handed Dixon the present. “We have a little gift for him on the way out.”
Dixon, who’s set to join Felix Rosenqvist and Pato O’Ward at Arrow McLaren in 2027, took the opportunity to make some farewell remarks to Ganassi and team staff.
“I can’t thank all of you enough for all we’ve done together, all we’ve achieved together. Chip and Mike and everybody steer the ship, but it’s all about the ‘we’. Can’t thank you, Chip, enough for everything you’ve done, and that’s all you. Thank you so much.
“Congratulations on another championship. Guess they’re racking up now. But I’m really looking forward to this weekend. Let’s end this one on a high.”
Ganassi, too, had some parting words to share.
“You’re always a friend to this team.”
