Dixon's extraordinary career with Chip Ganassi Racing, by the numbers

One IndyCar driver. One IndyCar team. Twenty-five years. Six championships. More podiums than any other driver. More top fives and top 10s, as well.

Twenty-one consecutive years with wins for Chip Ganassi Racing to go with the 58 total wins where a full 38.4 percent of Ganassi’s IndyCar wins bear his name, plus 32 poles, 6,982 laps led and 57,447 total laps turned in the team’s colors. The personification of excellence.

That’s the legacy Scott Dixon has sewn with CGR since his arrival partway through the 2002 season and will end on Sunday afternoon at Laguna Seca when the New Zealander completes his final laps in the No. 9 Honda he’s made famous for three decades.

“I think Laguna will be emotional, for sure,” Dixon said. “It’s been a lot of fun, all positive vibes, I think everybody has been fantastic so far and I don’t see that changing.”

The 46-year-old has chosen to write his final IndyCar chapter at McLaren Racing, the team founded by countryman and personal hero Bruce McLaren, where he’ll join its Arrow McLaren program in 2027 and is expected to play a role in McLaren’s upcoming FIA WEC Hypercar effort.

For now, with this weekend set to become his 415th and final start with Ganassi, it’s worth taking a deeper dive into more of his stats (assembled by Scott Richards):

• 414 starts, which is more starts than any other driver has ever had in an entire IndyCar career.
• Won at 26 different tracks with Ganassi, tied for the most among all drivers (Mario Andretti). Dixon also won at Nazareth with PacWest in 2002, so he holds the overall record of 27.
• Won in 22 of his 25 seasons with Ganassi, including 21 straight. No other driver in history has more than 18 (A.J. Foyt and Will Power.
• 144 podium finishes with Ganassi, most all-time.
• 212 top five finishes with CGR; the next highest active driver is Power (147).
• 302 top 10 finishes (there are only 10 other drivers in series’ history with more than 302 career starts).
• Four full-time drivers in 2026 were not born when Dixon first raced with Ganassi (Dennis Hauger, Louis Foster, Kyffin Simpson and Nolan Siegel).
• Led the points in 11 different seasons, tied for the most all-time with Foyt.
• Finished top-four in the points standings 19 times; no other driver has done it more than 13 (Helio Castroneves).
• Had a streak of 43 consecutive oval top-10 finishes between 2007-2012, the longest such streak in series history.
• Only driver to win IndyCar championships in three different decades (2000s, 2010s, 2020s).
