Collet and Malukas IndyCar entries hit with grid penalties for Portland
Caio Collet of AJ Foyt Racing and David Malukas of Team Penske will serve six-position grid penalties after qualifying for this weekend’s OnlyBulls Grand Prix of Portland is complete on Saturday.
Collet’s No. 4 Chevy received its fifth engine of the season following the most recent race in Nashville; only four engines are allowed per season in each entry’s lease agreement, and with Collet’s crash and the subsequent move to a fifth motor, the rookie will lose six spots on the starting grid at Portland.
Malukas incurred two unapproved engine changes at Nashville, served the grid penalty for the race, and owes a second penalty, which will be enforced this weekend with his No. 12 Chevy.
The Team Penske driver sits second in the drivers’ standings entering Portland and Foyt’s newcomer is 23rd.
