Drugovich loses second place as penalties shake up Sanya E-Prix finishing order
Post-race penalties have shaken up the order of the Sanya E-Prix, most notably costing the Andretti team its 1-2 finish.
While Jake Dennis retains the race win, Felipe Drugovich has been dropped to fifth after he received a five-second penalty for contact with Porsche's Pascal Wehrlein.
That promotes Cupra Kiro's Pepe Marti (pictured above) to second, with Nyck de Vries moving up to third after a penalty for Antonio Felix da Costa (moving under braking) was applied. Like for Marti, it’s de Vries’ second podium in three Formula E races after he won the first race of the Monaco E-Prix doubleheader and comes a week after he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time with Toyota.
DS Penske’s Maximilian Guenther was initially scored ahead of de Vries, but an initial investigation for de Vries moving under braking was shut down. He slots into sixth, behind Drugovich, with Nico Mueller, Jean-Eric Vergne, Taylor Barnard, and Lucas di Grassi maintaining the final points paying positions.
The penalties have changed nothing at the top of the drivers’ – where the top four all failed to score – and teams’ championship, but in the manufacturers’ standings, Porsche’s lead over Jaguar now sits at 41 points.

Dominik often jokes that he was born in the wrong country – a lover of NASCAR and IndyCar, he covered both in a past life as a junior at Autosport in the UK, but he’s spent most of his career to date covering the sliding and flying antics of the U.S.’ interpretation of rallycross. Rather fitting for a man that says he likes “seeing cars do what they’re not supposed to do”, previously worked for a car stunt show, and once even rolled a rally car with Travis Pastrana. He was also comprehensively beaten in a kart race by Sebastien Loeb once, but who hasn’t been?
