Jacir and Speth win again in Ligier JFC Race 2 at Road America

Beckham Jacir and Jack Speth brought the field to the checkered flag in a thrilling Race 2 at Road America. The Ligier Junior Formula Championship (Ligier JFC) Gen. 1 and Gen. 2 classes put on quite the show, jockeying for position and swapping the lead back and forth.

Notes of Interest:

Beckham Jacir earned his fourth win of 2026 and second of the Racing America at Road America weekend, as he continues to lead the Ligier JFC Gen. 1 standings.

Finishing second, Lazaro Bainotti recorded his fourth podium of the season.

After leading early at her home track, Ava Hanssen finished third on the podium for the second time in her career.

Finishing fifth in class, Alexander Savage (No. 33 Kyma Boats / G Tech Motorsports Ligier JS F4) recorded his career-best finish.

With his second win this weekend, Jack Speth leads the points championship in the Ligier JFC Gen. 2 Class.

With a hometown crowd in tow, Wisconsin native, Ava Hanssen (No. 26 One Powersports / Chiropractic Center of Elkhorn / NGK / Badger Mats Ligier JS F4), got a flawless jump from the pole to control the race. While she charged ahead, second-place starter Lazaro Bainotti (No. 11 Fundacion Fangio Rus seguros Cordoba deportes / Speed Factory Ligier JS F4) held off pressure from behind. With AJ Abdullah (No. 21 Freedom Detox / Grid State Digital / Berg Racing Ligier JS F4) and Beckham Jacir (No. 7 Stonica / Bell / OMP / P1DOKS / Behind the Wheel / Champagne Racing Ligier JS F4) hot on Bainotti’s tail, Abdullah was the first to make the pass. However, a lockup by the Berg Racing driver gave Jacir the opportunity to climb to second. The trio continued to race nose to gearbox and wheel to wheel around the 4.048-mile circuit as Hanssen pulled out to nearly a two-second lead.

With Abdullah eventually settling into fourth in class, Bainotti and Jacir continued their pursuit of Hanssen. Jacir was the first to feel pressure from Bainotti, who was looking to take second, but was unable to complete the pass. Jacir then turned his focus forward, filling the mirrors of Hanssen and waiting for an opportunity to take the point position. With 10 minutes on the clock, Jacir completed the pass to take the race lead as they raced through Turn 5. Hanssen and Bainotti traded second place for the next couple of laps until Bainotti pulled ahead.

When the checkered flag waved, Jacir crossed the line first, followed by Bainotti in second and Hanssen in third.

“That was a good race,” said Jacir. “I need to work on my starts, honestly. I think we’ve been losing a bit of time on those. It was really cold out there, but it was fun. I put my car where I needed to put it and got it done. I can’t thank my team, Champagne Racing enough. These guys are something else. We get to every race weekend and we’re always on pace the first session. Thank you to all my partners—STONICA, Bell, OMP and P1 DOKS.”

Jack Speth (No. 07 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F422) led from lights to checkers in the Ligier JFC Gen. 2 Class. With the Gen. 2 cars starting at the rear of the field, Speth once again had to overcome a climb from the back. The Kiwi Motorsport driver kept a steady pace and was able to reach the overall race lead by lap four. Meanwhile, Michael Fatutta (No. 54 Kyma Boats / G Tech Motorsports Ligier JS F422) capped off his Ligier JFC Gen. 2 debut weekend on the podium finishing second.
