Intermittent rain threatens Saturday qualifying at Indy, practice cancelled

With light rain starting to fall an hour ahead of the one-hour Indianapolis 500 practice session scheduled to be held prior to qualifying, the IndyCar Series has cancelled the practice that was meant to take place from 8:30-9:30am ET.

And with intermittent rain in the forecast for the rest of the day, the Indy 500's two-day Qualifying Weekend routine could turn into a single-day run for pole position and setting the field of 33. At present, Sunday's weather looks encouraging, but there's also a chance of running today if the weather shifts.
