Legge set to do The Double
Katherine Legge will become the first woman to try and complete 1,100 miles of racing on the same day later this month as the Briton is set to contest the Indianapolis 500 with HMD Motorsports/AJ Foyt Racing and the NASCAR Cup Series Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte with Live Fast Motorsports.
Rumors of Legge doing "The Double" first surfaced in April as a package plan to go with her return to the Indy 500. Legge recently returned to NASCAR with the Live Fast team and support from her sponsor e.l.f. at Watkins Glen.
"This challenge is about pushing through perceived limits, taking risks, and trying to do something unique," Legge said.
She becomes the second driver to attempt the feat in successive years after Cup champion Kyle Larson pursued The Double in 2024 and in 2025 with Arrow McLaren, but fell short of the mission to cover all 1,100 miles in both instances.
Six drivers have attempted to run the Indy 500 and Charlotte's 600 on the same day starting with the late John Andretti in 1994, followed by Davy Jones in 1995, Robby Gordon in 1997, Tony Stewart in 1999, and Kurt Busch in 2014 before Larson picked up the baton in 2024. Gordon was the most active, attempting to complete both races five times throughout his career.
