Hocevar explains memorable post-race celebration
Carson Hocevar got everything he could out of winning and celebrating his first NASCAR Cup Series race Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway.
And celebrate he did.
Hocevar got as much attention for his victory as he did for the way in which he celebrated as he returned to the frontstretch. The Spire Motorsports driver sat in the window of his Chevrolet, still driving, and engaged with the crowd. Then came the burnout against the wall at the start/finish line.
It was a moment that no one expected, even his own team. Jeff Dickerson, one of the team co-owners, joked that Hocevar looked like Shamu at SeaWorld hanging out of the car and he was worried they were going to get fined in their first win together.
NASCAR, so far, seems OK with how it all went down. And there is no denying it will go down as one of the most memorable post-race moments.
“Ultimately, I just wanted to make sure I soaked every bit of it.”
Hear straight from Hocevar on what he was thinking and how he did it:
