Busch gets new crew chief with Street replacing Pohlman

Richard Childress Racing has made another personnel change on the No. 8 team of Kyle Busch by putting Andy Street back atop the pit box.

Street will assume the role effective immediately and for the remainder of the season. He replaces Jim Pohlman, who was hired and paired with Busch ahead of the 2026 season. Pohlman will move into a leadership role in the competition department.

“This move is about putting our people in the best position to succeed,” said Richard Childress. “We have strong talent across this organization, and we’re focused on having each person in the right position to help deliver the results we expect.”

Street and Busch worked together at the end of last year. Upon the news that Randall Burnett, who had worked with Busch since the start of his tenure at Childress in 2023, was moving to Trackhouse Racing, the organization took him off the pit box. Pohlman joined the organization from JR Motorsports.

In the first 10 races, Busch and Pohlman had one top-10 finish together. It came on Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway. Busch is 27th in the standings and has been winless since June 2023.

“We strongly believe in the people we have,” said RCR president Mike Verlander. “At the same time, we expect better results, and that requires us to continually evaluate and make adjustments. Jim has more than two decades of success in this sport and will remain an important part of our team.

“We believe Andy and Kyle’s previous working relationship positions us to improve the No. 8 team and compete at a higher level.”
