Prime Video sets premiere date for Larson ‘Double’ documentary

"Kyle Larson vs. The Double," a feature-length documentary on the Hendrick Motorsports driver attempting the Memorial Day double of competing in both the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 in 2024-25, will premiere May 21 on Prime Video.

“This documentary really shows what goes into trying to complete ‘The Double,’ not just on race day, but in the weeks and months leading up to it,” Larson said. “I’ve always felt like people watch us race, but they don’t see what it takes to get there. Having cameras around for two years gives a real look at my life – the preparation, the pressure, the travel, and the balance between racing and family.

“There are moments fans have never seen before, and I think it really captures how hard it is to do what we do and chase something big.”

The documentary will show the behind-the-scenes efforts of Larson running both races and those involved in making it happen, along with all of the logistics that went into each event.

Larson attempted the double for the first time in 2024. He competed in the Indianapolis 500 with Arrow McLaren and finished 18th after a late-race speeding penalty following a fifth-place starting position.

However, Larson did not get to finish the double attempt that day. Because the start at Indy was delayed due to weather, Larson did not make it to Charlotte for the start of the Coca-Cola 600. The same severe weather then moved into the Charlotte area, prompting NASCAR to call an early end to the race before Larson could get into his Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.

Last season, Larson qualified 19th at Indianapolis and finished 24th after a crash. In the 600, after qualifying second, Larson finished 37th after his second crash of the day.

The documentary is produced by Imagine Documentaries and Markay Media, in association with NASCAR Studios, Hendrick Motorsports, and Penske Entertainment. It is directed by Cynthia Hill and Katherine Davidson, and executive produced by Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, Sara Bernstein, Meredith Kaulfers, Justin Wilkes, Jeff Gordon, Tim Clark and John Dahl.
