Queen wins Lamborghini Squadra Corse Super Trofeo Young Driver Program Shootout

American driver Colin Queen has been announced as the winner of the Lamborghini Squadra Corse Super Trofeo Young Driver Program Shootout, and will race with factory support for his second season in the IMSA-sanctioned Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series.

Queen was born with a congenital heart defect (CHD) and underwent three open-heart surgeries before his third birthday, but has nonetheless enjoyed a remarkable rise as the only professional racing driver with CHD.

An accomplished kart racer on both sides of the Atlantic, Queen spent four years racing single-seaters in Great Britain, moving up the ladder through Formula Ford, the GB4 Championship, and the GB3 Championship before returning stateside to begin his sports car racing career in Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America.

In his rookie season in Super Trofeo North America’s Pro category, Queen took two podium finishes for ANSA Motorsoports – one at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, and one at the Lamborghini World Final at Misano, Italy. Queen and co-driver Enzo Geraci finished fifth in the season standings.

After the World Final in Misano, Lamborghini held its Young Driver Shootout, where Queen was one of 16 Super Trofeo drivers being evaluated based on their driving ability and technical feedback. That shortlist also included Geraci, the 2024 Young Driver Program Shootout winner, and Elias de la Torre, last year’s Super Trofeo North America Pro class runner-up.

“My first season in Lamborghini Super Trofeo and GT racing has been an incredible experience,” said Queen. “Being named the winner of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Young Driver Program makes it even more meaningful.

“From the start, my goal has been to earn a factory seat with Lamborghini. The shootout is the first step, but the hard work continues. I’m focused on what’s ahead and I’m highly motivated to showcase both my sporting and technical capabilities. Beyond what I’ve already achieved in the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2, I can’t wait to see what’s coming with Lamborghini’s new Temerario. A new car means new opportunities and the potential to test soon would be incredible!

“I have the utmost gratitude towards Lamborghini Squadra Corse. The Young Driver Program pushed me to perform both on and off the track and has prepared me for that next level.”

Rouven Mohr, Interim Head of Motorsport at Automobili Lamborghini, added, “The YDP has provided many drivers the platform on which to build their professional careers, whether with Lamborghini or elsewhere, and we are proud to continue developing drivers of the future through our assessments and shootouts. Looking at the 2025 winners, I want to extend my congratulations to Colin Queen and Hugo Cook (the winner of the GT3 Young Driver Shootout), both of whom excelled in their assessment and in the end-of-year shootout, against strong competition.”

The 2026 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America season begins during the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring weekend, with the first two rounds taking place on March 19–20.
