IMSA tweaks drive time requirements for GTD Pro Bronze drivers at Rolex 24
IMSA has revised the minimum drive time requirements for two Bronze-rated drivers competing in the GTD Pro category ahead of the Rolex 24 At Daytona which starts on Saturday.
Ahead of the 2026 season, new IMSA Sporting Regulations stipulated that any Bronze driver seeking to race in the GTD Pro class must receive approval from IMSA, and must also adhere to the same minimum drive time requirement as any Bronze or Silver driver racing in the GTD class – an increase from two hours, to four hours and 30 minutes.
After qualifying, IMSA issued a statement saying that the minimum drive time for the two applicable drivers, 75 Express’ Kenny Habul and Winward Racing’s Scott Noble, has been reduced by one hour effective immediately.
The statement reads: “Following review of the entered three- and four-driver GTD PRO line-ups for the Rolex 24 At Daytona, IMSA determined that an adjustment was necessary to maintain competitive balance for four-driver GTD PRO configurations incorporating a Bronze-rated driver. Accordingly, the minimum drive-time requirement for a Bronze-rated driver in GTD PRO has been reduced by one hour to three and a half hours for this event.”
Habul is sharing the No. 75 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO with a star-studded cast of pro drivers, featuring two-time NTT IndyCar Series champion Will Power, 2025 Supercars champion Chaz Mostert, and 2023 Rolex 24 GTD Pro class winner Maro Engel.
Noble is paired with Mercedes-AMG Performance Drivers Maxime Martin and Luca Stolz in the No. 48 Winward Mercedes-AMG, and multi-time SRO GT4 America champion Jason Hart.
