Newly-crowned NHRA Funny Car champion Prock splits with John Force Racing
John Force Racing has confirmed one of the biggest pieces of NHRA silly season news around the departure of the Prock family.
It comes a week after Austin Prock won his second consecutive NHRA Funny Car championship at the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals in Pomona, California. He won 21 races driving for Force between Top Fuel and Funny Car.
Jimmy Prock, his father, was the team's crew chief. The elder Prock joined the Force organization in 2001 and spent all but the 2015-2026 seasons there.
“John Force Racing has been doing what we do for more than 50 years and all the hard work preparing for the 2026 NHRA season continues as planned with four race teams and the Force American Made machine shop,” John Force said in a statement. “We appreciate the strength and continued backing of all of the great sponsors that support us so we’re focused on the future that includes announcing additional partnerships in the coming weeks.
“We are very proud of our accomplishments with the Prock family. I wish them well and I understand that their decision to move on is just part of the business we’re in.”
There is yet to be an announcement from the Prock duo on their next move, although paddock speculation has linked them with a move to Tasca Racing, joining owner/driver Bob Tasca III in an expanded, two-car Funny Car lineup.
John Force Racing is set to field Jack Beckman in the Funny Car class next season and Josh Hart in Top Fuel. Hart joins the organization to take over the seat vacated by Brittany Force, who is looking to start a family. Any additional drivers have not been announced.
