Carl Cox Motorsport to return for Extreme E/Extreme H events in Saudi Arabia

Carl Cox Motorsport will return from its one-year Extreme E sabbatical to take part in next week's final event for the discipline as well as the FIA Extreme H World Cup in Qiddiya, Saudi Arabia.

The outfit, founded by DJ Carl Cox, entered Extreme E in 2023 after participating in drag racing and superbike racing, but sat out of last year's shortened campaign with a view to returning for Extreme H.

“I am very happy to be returning to Extreme E and H for the Final lap of racing this year with my team, Carl Cox Motorsport,” said Cox. “Looking forward to working and meeting the teams again, as it has been very powerful and exciting to watch the racing, and a lot of fun too. It is very important to me to be involved with the legacy project, so back to the track, where Carl Cox Motorsport belongs.”

The team is now making that return, with Timo Scheider – who will also serve as team principal – and Klara Andersson as its drivers. The pair drove together for SUN Minimeal last season.

“It feels fantastic to return to Carl Cox Motorsport, this time not only as a driver but also as team principal,” said two-time DTM champion Scheider. “I've had the privilege of racing with Carl and the team before in Extreme E, and now to take on the brand-new Extreme H World Cup together in Saudi Arabia is an exciting new chapter.

“What really makes this team so special is the incredible positive energy that Carl brings and that flows through everyone. That spirit means a lot to me personally, and I truly believe it's our recipe for success. I can't wait to get back out there with this amazing crew and take on this new challenge together.”

Andersson has been a standout star in Extreme E ever since she claimed a podium finish for Abt Cupra on her debut in Chile in 2022. She then won the following round in Uruguay, becoming the youngest winner in the category's history in the process.

“I'm incredibly happy to join Carl Cox Motorsport and be back alongside Timo again for the last Extreme E race and the first Extreme H World Cup,” said the four-time World Rallycross podium finisher. “We only had a few races together but the mentality and the passion of the team was truly amazing, and I'm really excited to be back with everyone and continue the work that we started last year! Also super cool to race for the legend Carl Cox himself. Our mission is to make him proud!”

Dominik often jokes that he was born in the wrong country – a lover of NASCAR and IndyCar, he covered both in a past life as a junior at Autosport in the UK, but he’s spent most of his career to date covering the sliding and flying antics of the U.S.’ interpretation of rallycross. Rather fitting for a man that says he likes “seeing cars do what they’re not supposed to do”, previously worked for a car stunt show, and once even rolled a rally car with Travis Pastrana. He was also comprehensively beaten in a kart race by Sebastien Loeb once, but who hasn’t been?
