Miller returns with Abel for Milwaukee

Jacob Abel will carry sponsorship from the Miller Brewing Company during this weekend’s Snap-on 250 at the Milwaukee Mile.

The Dale Coyne Racing rookie from Kentucky attempted to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 in a Miller livery that paid tribute to home state legend and 1985 Indy 500 winner Danny Sullivan in May, and with the IndyCar Series' shift to Miller’s home town in Wisconsin, the Milwaukee-based beer label is back with another retro-themed look as Abel’s No. 51 Honda has changed to the No. 50 for the event to commemorate 50 years of the brand’s presence at the Mile in colors once worn by Bobby Rahal’s CART Indy cars in the 1990s.

“I’m honored and thrilled to have Miller Lite join us at the famed Milwaukee Mile,” Abel said. “I love the cool livery design and think it’s only fitting this take place in Milwaukee – a place with such a long history for both IndyCar racing and the Miller Lite brand.”

The livery is also being used to pay tribute to the late baseball player, announcer, and longtime Miller pitchman Bob Uecker, whose line, “I must be in the front row!” from a 1980s Miller commercial became one of his most famous tag lines and is written along the spine of the No. 50’s engine cover.

Uecker, who called Milwaukee Brewers games for decades, died in January and will be honored on Sunday during the Brewers gave vs. the San Francisco Giants.
