IMSA hits 1m YouTube subscribers
Ahead of the Motul SportsCar Grand Prix at Road America, IMSA's official YouTube channel has reached the one-million subscriber milestone, 18 months after it first began streaming WeatherTech SportsCar Championship races to over 230 countries internationally.
This puts IMSA second only to NASCAR for total YouTube subscribers, and is a key piece of further new media growth which also includes Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and LinkedIn.
IMSA first began streaming WeatherTech races on YouTube with the 2024 Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, when the channel had 315,000 subscribers.
It has since expanded to offer more live races, highlights, and previews, and post-race content – plus a wide array of original content.
IMSA's all-access documentary series, Win The Weekend presented by Michelin, is now in its third season - and new for 2025, the IMSA Endurance Hour podcast has launched, with 15 episodes produced already, produced before and after IMSA race weekends.
An array of behind-the-scenes, educational and informational videos, and classic races from IMSA's archives, further supplement IMSA's digital growth.
By the start of the 2025 Rolex 24 At Daytona, the channel had grown to 600,000 subscribers, as 2.3 million people tuned in across the world at various points to watch the Daytona 24 Hours on YouTube.
“Reaching one million subscribers on IMSA’s YouTube channel is a landmark achievement for our organization and a testament to the passion of our global fanbase,” said IMSA CEO, Ed Bennett. “This milestone marks one element of our comprehensive digital and social push, reflects the incredible growth in our digital audience, and underscores the importance of making our sport more accessible to fans around the world.”
“Our international livestreams have opened new doors, allowing fans around the world to experience IMSA racing in real time,” said IMSA President John Doonan. “Additionally, the success of our Win The Weekend docuseries has brought new energy and storytelling to the IMSA brand, helping us connect with audiences in fresh and meaningful ways. This is a proud moment for everyone in the IMSA paddock — teams, partners, and stakeholders alike — as we continue to build momentum and bring the thrill of sports car racing to more fans than ever before.”
This weekend, IMSA's YouTube channel will have live streaming coverage of eight races from five different series – plus Qualifying for the Motul SportsCar GP. These races will also air on IMSA.TV, and on Peacock, the exclusive televised streaming home of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in the United States.
